Student ambassadors offer a representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and its students. The student ambassador helps share students’ ideas, interests and concerns with teachers and school principals. They are actively involved in activities, give tours and promote our school. They often also help raise funds for schoolwide activities, including social events, community projects, helping people in need and school reform.

Our Feeder Schools

Connection, Collaboration, Community

Why Feeder Patterns Matter

Staying within school feeder patterns plays a key role in creating a smooth, supportive transition for students as they move from elementary to middle school. When schools work closely together, students benefit from a more consistent learning experience, aligned academic expectations and a stronger sense of community.

At Shawnee Middle School, we’re committed to building strong, lasting connections with our feeder elementary schools - Lincoln, Fairfield and Washington Center - and neighborhood high school - Northrop. Through events such as 5th Grade Visits and 6th Grade Orientation, we ensure students and families feel welcomed, informed and excited about becoming a Shawnee Brave as they enter middle school.

We aim to promote community events like Trunk or Treat, volunteering and supporting our students through each grade level. Our school partners closely with the Northrop High School music department, providing students with opportunities to experience performances and collaborate with older musicians. Additionally, by hosting athletic events at Northrop High School, Shawnee helps students become familiar with the broader school community and fosters a sense of pride and continuity within the Northrop network

Our staff collaborates with elementary teachers and administrators to support student success both academically and socially. These strong partnerships promote a shared sense of belonging for our students and families throughout their time in Fort Wayne Community Schools.
