Our History
Shawnee Middle School is named for the Shawnee Indians. The school works closely with community organizations, including United Way, Campus Life, Boys and Girls Club and various youth groups. More than 25 extracurricular clubs are active at Shawnee, including Spell Bowl, Academic Teams, Show Choir, National Junior Honor Society, Aviation Club, Skateboard/BMX Club and many more.
Shawnee was built in 1975 and offers the English Language Learner program to students for whom English is a new language. Students attending Shawnee attended Fairfield, Lincoln and Washington Center elementary schools and feed into Northrop High School. The school is located in the Board of School Trustees District 1.
